Add a check-in deal to your Facebook Places venue?

Posted on July 6th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I’ve created a Facebook Places venue for my cafe and am pleased with the results (and the tracking analytics, very cool!) What I’d like to do is offer some sort of coupon incentive to help people spread the word about my place. Can you step me through how to set up a Facebook Deal for my venue and best practices both?

How do I delete a dumb or spammy Facebook wall post?

Posted on June 22nd, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I just got a weird email notification from Facebook that someone left a dumb comment on my Wall. I don’t want it there. In fact, not only do I want to delete the comment from my Facebook wall, I want to stop this particular app from ever leaving stuff on my Wall again. My friend? I might drop him too, but that’s another story.

How To Grab A Screen Shot In Windows 7?

Posted on June 6th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I’m writing a research report on Microsoft Windows and need to be able to take screen captures or grabs and include them in the document. I know that “print screen” is supposed to accomplish that, but I’m just not sure how it works. Can you explain how to take a screen capture in MS Windows 7, please?

How do I connect my Google AdSense and Analytics accounts?

Posted on May 25th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I’d like to connect up my Google AdSense account and my Google Analytics stats account. I understand that if you do this, you can identify the most profitable pages on your site and – obviously – write more pages like that to earn more money through AdSense. Seems smart. How do I link them together?

How do I verify my site with Google Webmaster Tools?

Posted on April 25th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I’ve heard that one of the best ways to improve my Google search ranking is to fix anything that’s marked as incorrect in Google’s Webmaster Tools service. Problem is, when I did go to Webmaster Central it says my site’s not verified. How do I verify my Web site with Google Tools?

Can I Get Facebook Profile Photos Into iPhone Address Book?

Posted on April 12th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

I have a ton of overlap between the people in my Address Book / Contacts on my iPhone and the people with whom I’m friends on Facebook. Since my iPhone can display people’s photos when they ring, I’d really love to have as many of my friend’s pictures in my iPhone contacts data as possible. Which leads to an obvious question: is there some sort of tool that lets you import Facebook profile pictures and match them with your Address Book contacts? That’d be very cool…

How Can I Manage My Foursquare Friend List?

Posted on March 30th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

A colleague of mine had a very weird thing happen yesterday: he checked in to a restaurant just before a lunch meeting, and some random person called the restaurand and asked to be connected to him. He had no idea who it was and it’s set off quite a firestorm in the office about whether anyone in the company should use geolocation checkin games. I think it’s a bit overblown, but want to know, how can I see who are my Foursquare friends and remove those I don’t know?

Prevent My iPhone From Recording Location Data In Photos?

Posted on March 14th, 2011 by Dave Taylor

A friend just pointed out to me that because my iPhone 4 has a GPS built into it, it always knows where I am, and that it records that information in every picture I take with the phone. Since I often post pictures online, I don’t want them to all have my exact location hidden within. Is there a way to turn this off?
